Thats what Minerva said, at least. He was supposed to do anythkng to defeat the “bad guys”. No matter what. He wasn’t supposed to care, he wasn’t supposed to try and de-escalate a situation. He was supposed to fight.
But he wasn’t a fighter. He was scared, and he just wanted to help, and he only fought when he absolutely needed to. And he didnt like it, he didnt like hurting things. He hated it, hated hearing an animals grunts of pain even if he was fighting it off because it had attacked him and he had no other choice. He just…didnt like violence. He knew it was neccessary sometimes, but that didn’t mean he enjoyed it. So why in God’s name was he supposed to fight? Why the hell was that his destiny?
He was afraid of his destiny for a lot of reasons. Afraid that he wasn’t enough, afraid that destiny was wrong.
But after seeing the goat man lying on the table and hearing Minerva’s voice telling him to strike, telling him that thats what he was supposed to do….after hearing her tell him that he was supposed to hurt this unconscious, injured creature….
