I wanted to look up if disenchantment was getting a season 2 (yes) but like, the first search results were all about how bad the show is

I mean, it’s not SPECTACULAR or game changing but it’s fun? the music is good, I like all the main characters, the joke aren’t offensive and almost always land even if they arent gut busters, the main character is a bucktooth drunkard princess who can hold her own in a fight and doesnt wear heels (standard outfit is a tunic, pants, and practical boots)

I cant really think of a show with a female main character, a show for ADULTS, and she’s, just not really “sexy” in the way cartoon women usually are. She’s also proportioned like a person, her waist is, well, it’s got girth to it, and she’s a fucking princess.

like, look at the difference between Bean and her mother (mother, thin, oval face, smaller neck, lips. Bean, tummy pudge, no lips, buck teeth, square face, thick neck)

it’s a fun show, i think reviewers are taking it to seriously or were expecting the next big thing

it’s not a very cerebral show, it’s entertainment, and it succeeds at being very entertaining

add to that, the animation/art is honestly good. standard matt groening character designs which arent my favorite but good none the less, but the scenery? off the charts in my opinion

idk i just feel like it’s a good series!

And I mean, Futurama and The Simpsons didn’t have an over-arching plot structure like Disenchanted does. Groening’s other shows are more episodic in nature, held together by the setting than a main story, (with the possible notable exception of Futurama’s Season 5/ feature length movies).

I think people go into Disenchanted expecting an oblique comedy like Futurama or The Simpsons, rather than to critique it as a separate series all together. It really actually stands out on it’s own as a fantasy adventure series with some actual dramatic plot sewn right into it. It comes down to how your experience is framed when you decide to get into it.
